Ex-aides say Bush never recovered from Katrina

I imagine New Orleans residents, who never recovered from Bush, are giving him a resounding one-finger salute right about now.

"Katrina to me was the tipping point," said Matthew Dowd, Bush's pollster and chief strategist for the 2004 presidential campaign. "The president broke his bond with the public. Once that bond was broken, he no longer had the capacity to talk to the American public. State of the Union addresses? It didn't matter. Legislative initiatives? Meh. Threatening them with torture and the vice president? It didn't matter. P.R.? It didn't matter. Travel? It didn't matter."

Dan Bartlett, former White House communications director and later counselor to the president, said: "Politically, it was the final nail in the coffin."

Even topping ignoring a certain PDB, then reading "My Pet Goat" during the 9/11 attacks. Or lying about WMDs. Or illegally wiretapping American citizens. Or sitting in his secret fort playing Pokemons while the economy tanked. Or

One could make a fantastic 'master list' of all of BushCo's evil doings by reviewing Maru's postings these past seven years. Katrina was horrid, but don't forget that it was one of many terrible things done to the planet by these crooks. The list is long and the only fair option is jail time for W's whole crew.

Well I don't know if it was the worst thing he did but I do think it had a more immediate and stunning effect on the public than anything else. It was horrifying not only for the human suffering but also struck a blow to everyone's confidence in the US. To see people crying for help from rooftops and no one came! We're used to people being rescued from any kind of danger that happens to them or they get themselves into - whether they hike into an avalanche or fall into some pit or anything - and the Good Guys will pull out all the stops and save their asses. To see what happened there - and on TV! - and nothing was done... shit. Horrible. And it's all his fucking fault. You betcha katrina did him in! Evil, stupid, careless son of a bitch.

Agreed it was a horrible and unforgivable blunder of BushCo{tm} and his administration, but not the worst. If one wanted to list them all, one would overload googles's servers.
The fact that it paralysed him into not doing anything afterwards is truly telling. What the fuck did he do for three years? Other than stick his finger up his nose and give incoherent speeches? Certainly nothing for anyone who mattered. Like the American public.
