Shocker: rethug TX Gov does not blame gays for gulf catastrophe

Wrath of the Almightly instead a warning to liberal elite tree-hugging econazi vegan Dems to keep drilling. So, OK, yeah, gays.

In yet another example of conservative mental and moral midgetry, Texas governor Rick Perry thinks the oil spill is an “Act of God” because, gee, humans certainly had nothing to do with some huge mysterious machine boring hundreds of miles into sweet, sweet crude to make brazillions of megabucks for a few already-rich planet-rapers.

"We don't know what the event that has allowed for this massive oil to be released," Perry said, totally ignoring grammar, and the culpability of Dick Cheney and his oil buddies in the whole mess. "And until we know that, I hope we don't see a knee-jerk reaction across this country that says we're going to shut down drilling in the Gulf of Mexico , because the cost to this country will be staggering."

Perry questioned whether the spill was "just an act of God that occurred" and said that any "politically driven" decisions could put the U.S. in further economic peril.
So drill, baby, drill! Douche.

I sure hope that the oil slick dissipates and/or is somehow overcome before it reaches any shorelines. But whichever the outcome, I also hope that the US public starts realizing that this could occur more often if we continue expanding and pressuring the oil industry to produce more oil/gas. This should be taken as a warning about the old paradigm of unlimited growth for the foreseeable future - - it just ain't gonna work that way! Cheap oil was (arguably) great while it lasted, but that was then and this is now and that era is permanently over. No more drilling a 100 or 200 ft into the ground in many of the lower 48 states and just easily pumping it out for a few thousand dollars in equipment - - those sites are virtually all found and exploited. Now you have to go to the other side of the earth and 'liberate' the Iraqis from their oil, or you go offshore in hurricane-prone areas, in miles deep water, and drill thousands of feet down. Or you go to remote areas of Alaska or Canada and obtain oil through an expensive oil-shale retrieval process. And the transportation is much more expensive and ecologically threatening.
This is obviously an excellent (if not NECESSARY) time to move to sustainable, 'green' energy sources.
