It's 12 degrees, the furnace is acting funny, and we're under a snow alert for tomorrow. But hey, we got our first mention in the Carnival of the Vanities (thanks!!)!
Word!
Gore for Media Czar!: 'It is conservative pundits’ stock-in-trade to nip such criticism in the bud, pronto - lest the debate shift to them, rather than staying focused on their powerful creation and whipping post, "the liberal media." They and their apologists throw out words like "delusional" and "desperate," maintaining a stranglehold on the discussion until they bludgeon the critic back into silent submission. Oftentimes liberals stand by during one of these clubbings, like scared chickens watching one of their own being dragged off to the slaughterhouse (and, cannibalistically, some join in, hoping to score some points with the slaughterers).' - Michelangelo Signorile tells it like it is, as Dems donned in pink tutus and knee-pads plie' to the symp-phonic version of "Holding Out For A Hero."
Oh Fer Petessake...
The White House has decided that several thousand political appointees across the federal government will be eligible for cash bonuses, abandoning a Clinton-era prohibition that grew out of questionable practices in the first Bush administration.
Administration officials said the policy shift was ordered by the White House chief of staff, Andy Card, earlier this year but never publicly disclosed.
A Justice Department memorandum explaining how the bonuses will be distributed within the department says that awards for political appointees "will be limited to truly outstanding performance that contributes directly to achieving the president's and the attorney general's national goals and objectives." - From the NY Times. ....thud....
