The horror....the humanity....
"People who know Bush well say the strain of war is palpable. He rarely jokes with staffers these days and occasionally startles them with sarcastic putdowns. He's being hard on himself; he gave up sweets just before the war began." - Jesus. Quote by some clueless toady writing for USA Today.

Predictably, GOP panties in a wad over Kerry remarks
Democratic Sen. John Kerry came under fire from top repuke chickenhawk hysterics congressional republicans for saying the United States, like Iraq, needs a regime change.

"Free and open discourse is one thing, but petty, partisan insults launched solely for personal political gain are highly inappropriate at a time when American men and women are in harm's way,'' senate majority leader/whining pantywaist Bill Frist said in a statement Thursday, conveniently forgetting the way repugs constantly harangued and insulted President Bill Clinton while troops were in combat areas during his presidency.

House Speaker Dennis 'Yes, Mr DeLay' Hastert said that in the midst of war, the nation should pull together to support the troops and commander in chief. "Once this war is over, there will be plenty of time for the next election,'' he said in a statement, while reaching for another Pepsi and a case of donuts.

House majority leader Tom DeLay, R-Hades, also issued a statement, calling Kerry's words "desperate and inappropriate.''

Kerry dismissed the criticism, saying patriotism is not mutually exclusive with questioning the war.

"I don't need any lessons in patriotism or in caring for America,'' Kerry, a decorated Vietnam veteran, said. "So fuck off."

Neither Hastert, Frist nor DeLay served in the military. - link.
