Bush's nominee for a top diplomacy job was blocked by Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Wednesday because the WH is blocking the re-appointment of a Democrat whose name appeared in a John Kerry campaign ad.
Biden, in a meeting of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, objected to the appointment of Dina Powell, who serves as White House personnel director, as Bush's choice to become deputy under-secretary of State for public diplomacy.
Biden's objection to Powell was based on the White House's petty efforts to try to remove the Clinton-appointed Noman Pattiz from the Broadcasting Board of Governors, an independent panel which runs several state-owned networks and has a budget of $600 million.
