I read the link and some of the comments. A lot of justifiable negative comments about Rush*, but of course there's the yahoos who try to make this into some sort of 'free speech/1st Amendment' type of issue...forgetting of course that the 1st Amendment refers ONLY to the GOVERNMENT'S actions (ie; the US "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech..."), NOT NGO's or businesses**. You can argue whether or not free speech should be extended to non-government settings, but it presently is NOT, and as one person noted, this situation is a lot like a central corporate office vetting potential franchise buyers - - and given a choice they're probably NOT going to pick people who are negatively controversial (ie; have a history of casually shooting off their mouth with lies and gross exaggerations).
* For a good compilation of over 100 actual incriminating quotes by Limbaugh, read "The Way Things Aren't" written by Rendall/Naureckas/Cohen of the FAIR organization.
**Hell, the huge multi-national corporation that I work for has rules in it's employee handbook prohibiting employees from intentionally doing/saying anything that will harm the company (with the possibility of dismissal for infractions)- - and they're not clever enough to have written this up themselves, so I know that this is undoubtedly standard boilerplate for many US corporations.
Has anyone else kinda, sorta noticed that Mr. Joe-on-the-street's champion, Rush, has the dough to buy into an NFL football team? Am I being too picky about political motivation?
