Tom Brazaitis: 'Bush sure is touchy about his coziness with Big Biz'

Syndicated columnist Marianne Means sheds light on a potentially pivotal issue in the November election for control of Congress. The annual Gridiron show, a musical lampoon produced and performed by Washington newspaper correspondents, pokes fun at the capital's politicians. The show is divided into two skits, one satirizing the Democrats, the other the repuglicans.

Means, a Hearst columnist and president of the Gridiron this year, sat next to the Smirking Cokemonkey at the head table during the show and reported that Daddy's Little Doofus "seemed to be enjoying himself," at least until a song came up dealing with the Enron scandal and the damage it had wreaked on employees and investors.

"Why is that in the Republican skit?" the Crayola Crackhead bleated.

"We had to put it someplace," Means answered diplomatically, if not quite candidly. "Jeezus, where the f*ck has this guy been, planet Craptron?? What a f*cking bozo!"

It's not just the press corps that links the GOP and Enron. Public opinion polls reveal that a majority of Americans associate Enron with the rethugs in general, and the bush administration in particular.
