Dow Falls 403 Points - 6-Day Loss Near 1,100. In midafternoon trading, the Dow was down 402.90, or 4.6 percent, at 8,281.63, having last week dropped 694.97, or 7.4 percent, in five straight losing sessions.

In his remarks today, the Smirking Cokemonkey condemned corporate fraud, saying he expected "the highest ethical standards in corporate America."

Daddy's Widdle Doofus insisted that the economy is fundamentally strong, and said its problems stemmed from a "hangover" from the 1990s.

"America must get rid of the hangover as a result of the binge, the economic binge we just went through," Bunnypants said in Birmingham. "We were in a land where there was endless profit, no tomorrow when it came to the stock markets and corporate profits, and now we're suffering a hangover from that binge."

Unbelievable. So, the economy was just too darn good under Clinton? There was something wrong with eight years of peace and prosperity?
