a "Show about Nothing"
"...the so-called "Daschle Democrats" stood for absolutely nothing and therefore richly deserved to lose. Can anyone please explain what on Earth the Democratic party stands for right now? Republicanism Lite? Wow, that's inspiring!
"Unfortunately, what we have here is a party completely adrift, with no agenda of its own, and therefore with nothing left to do but criticize the President. In the weeks and months leading up to yesterday's debacle, we witnessed the pathetic spectacle of the Democarats meekly rolling over and supporting the President on Iraq in order to "move on" -- to what, we'll never know.
"We had Democrats criticizing the President's economic policy as a "disaster," but refusing to oppose the foundation of that policy -- the huge tax cut giveaway to the rich. Finally, by holding up Homeland Security in order to avoid angering the labor unions, the Democrats ended up looking weak on defending the nation while appearing to be in complete thrall to special interests (Big Labor, in this case).
"The "Daschle Democratic Party" stood for nothing, offered absolutely no vision or plan for America, and therefore deserved to lose. It's time for the Democrats to do some serious soul searching, but don't hold your breath that they actually will!" - Lowell Feld.
