Another sign we'll be going to war soon
The administration continues to face the public perception that its policies - and perhaps especially its economic and tax policies -- favor the rich, not the middle class or all groups equally.
With the new Congress ready to go to work, most Americans think its first task should be to help the ailing economy and create jobs - not necessarily to pass a tax cut. And even while most Americans believe that war in Iraq is inevitable, just about as many would like to continue attempts at a diplomatic solution there, something many don't think this Administration is working hard enough to secure. - CBS News Poll.
WWCD?*
No matter if, in the summer of 2004, Wall Street is still suffering through a bear market, or Osama is still on the loose, or the tax cuts for the wealthy lead to more homeless people on the streets.
The TV cameras will catch only the trompe l'oeil tableau of Republican regular folk: Rudy Giuliani and a stage full of Rockettes and firemen; Bill Frist resuscitating a homeless man outside the Garden, and the Harlem Boys Choir singing to the ever fatter G.O.P. cats. - Maureen Dowd.
Don't forget the life-size pose-with-the-preznit! photoboards of Smirky the Crack Chimp standing with a bullhorn on the smoking tomb that used to be the Twin Towers.
