CIA in hot seat over reports leading to war
Mon Jun 9, USA TODAY: As the debate heats up over why the Bush administration's claims about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction remain unproven, many of the fingers are pointing in the same direction: at the Central Intelligence Agency.
But critics of the administration say there's more than logic at work. Some members of Congress are questioning whether the administration exaggerated intelligence findings to fit its war plans. And some Democratic House and Senate staffers on the intelligence and foreign relations committees, who requested anonymity, say the White House strategy is to deflect those accusations by focusing attention on the CIA.
The CIA is hampered in how it can combat false allegations, because it cannot discuss how intelligence is gathered or reveal sources and methods that might endanger covert operators. And because the CIA is not directly involved in the making of foreign policy, it is somewhat removed from the White House and therefore a convenient place for senior executive branch officials to lay blame.
........
So not only are they liars, they're chickenshit lying fingerpointers looking for scapegoats. This is from the people who promised to bring honesty and accountability to the White House. Two more lies.
