Senate Democrats blast Bush on Iraq
Before scurrying back to their kennels with their tails between their legs.
Smelling blood and possibly the arousing aroma of testosterone eminating from Howard Dean, some Democrats actually criticized serial liar "Bring 'em on!" Bunnypants on Tuesday for the spiraling costs of the war and for not seeking more international help in rebuilding Iraq.
The charges came as the White House tried to deflect accusations that it lied lied LIED like dogs exaggerated intelligence on Iraq's weapons to justify the war and announced that the federal deficit will balloon to a record $455 billion this fiscal year. The Senate was debating a $369 billion bill to fund the Pentagon for the next fiscal year that ignores the $5 billion monthly costs of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Sen. Mark Dayton, a Minnesota Democrat, said the deficit grew from "the most colossal financial mismanagement that's ever been written in this country's history," and called for "a clear, direct and reliable accounting" of the war's costs.
Senate Minority Leader/prima ballerina Tom 'Isadora' Daschle, D-Lacenightie, said it was "sort of legislative Never-Never Land" to debate "the single largest defense appropriations bill in history" that does not reflect costs of Iraq, Afghanistan and the overall war on terrorism.
House Majority Leader Tom 'bugman' DeLay, R-Insane, countered that questions on Iraq have been "incredibly overblown."
"It's not as though our pResident had intimate moments with a consenting adult where nobody got killed." He said Democrats "know that they have to attack Operation Iraqi Freedom to energize their Bush-hating base."
