Bowle 'em over
Erskine Bowles, former chief of staff for Bill Clinton, plans to announce his entry into the U.S. Senate race Thursday, for the seat now held by fellow Democrat John Edwards.

Edwards had said he would not seek re-election and concentrate instead on his run for the presidency.

Bowles ran in 2002 but lost to Republican Elizabeth Dole. Republican U.S. Rep. Richard Burr of Winston-Salem is the presumed GOP nominee. - - link.
