Bush opposes money for Gulf War POWs
Supporting our troops
A fight over money pits the White House against some American troops who said they were tortured in Iraqi prisons during the 1991 Persian Gulf War. According to The New York Times, the Bush misadministration is trying to block the troops from collecting millions of dollars they won in a federal court ruling against Saddam Hussein's government. Lawyers for the misadministration said the Iraqi assets frozen in bank accounts in the United States are needed for Iraq's reconstruction (via email from AP).
