Edwards calls for Iraq war case investigation
John Edwards, responding to remarks by former chief arms hunter David Kay, called on Saturday for an independent commission to investigate if the Bush misadministration lied to Congress in making its case for war with Iraq.
"It's a serious issue and it's why I have called for an independent commission to investigate the discrepancy between what's found there and what we were told before," Edwards told reporters.
He also demanded an end to war profiteering by Halliburton and others, who had secured contracts to rebuild Iraq based on the fact they are "major Bush political contributors."
In a related story, Halliburton declined 60 Minutes' repeated requests for an interview - to be broadcast Sunday, Jan. 25, called "Doing Business With The Enemy."
