The Bush misadministration is considering a major shift in its plan for transition to Iraqi self-rule, possibly extending and expanding the US-appointed Governing Council so it can take temporary control of the country on July 1, a senior U.S. official said Wednesday.
Or, as BuzzFlash put it, US now says it may take "temporary role" in running Iraq - wouldn't want those lucrative Halliburton contracts to go to someone else.
