Inexcusable
"This is not just a matter of the president's diminishing credibility, although that's disturbing enough..."
An independent commission threw cold water Wednesday on the administration's insistent claims of a link between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaida. That comes on top of the administration's failure to find any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Both ideas had been central ingredients of Bush's rationale for invading. The New York Times has called on the Smirking Liar to apologize for going to war on Iraq after the 9/11 commission found no evidence linking Saddam to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
"Now pResident Bush should apologize to the American people, who were led to believe something different," the Times editorial said. "Of all the ways Mr. Bush persuaded Americans to back the invasion of Iraq last year, the most plainly dishonest was his effort to link his war of choice with the battle against terrorists worldwide."
Speaking of liars, don't expect Dick 'dick' Cheney to back down on his linking of Saddam and al-Qaida anytime soon.
