Duffy

My little yellow-collar macaw Duffy died last night. She was such an affectionate little thing, very sweet and bouncy and full of life. I always had to wear two shirts at the same time around her because she loved hiding under one of them, squeaking "I'm under! I'm under!" and making purring noises or laughing. She used to give me great beaky kisses complete with mmmwwwaaa! sounds, and would throw herself at me, upside-down, so I would catch her and tickle her. She had this thing for toes - I guess she thought they were baby birds, because she would always puke on them as if she were trying to feed them - but what she really liked was grooming the little plastic bits off the end of shoelaces. No shoes were safe from her - she'd make a bee-line for any pair she saw. Her favorite toys were new shoelaces strung with plastic beads. She would spend all day untying the knots in them, but as soon as I came home she'd just want to crawl under my shirt and be held.

She will be missed so much.
