What can brown do for you?
Heh - the Big Brown Dog found the new kittens Saturday. She was out in the yard exploring while I was gardening when all of a sudden she ran over, barking, and led me to four kittens. Their mama had hidden them in the woodpile behind the orchard. They're not there now - we got heavy rain that night, so she moved them. Right under the bedroom window, where in the middle of the night I woke up to meow! meow! meow! meow! By the time morning came around she had moved them again. And it's a good thing, because the Big Brown Dog kept going over looking to try to play with them.

Birds
It's weird how each year we'll see a different type of bird outnumber all the others in our yard.
1. Our first summer it was grackles
2. Our second: cowbirds. God, I hate those damn things.
3. Third: bluebirds
4. Goldfinches
5. This year: catbirds. Bonus: we saw our first scarlet tanagers this weekend.

Rewriting history to save your ass
World protests Koran desecration at Guantanamo Bay, silent on the toilet-flushing of the US constitution by Bush misadministration.
Sorry.

Kneepads Newsweak, in a fit of cowardice and possibly on orders from the White House, retracts its Koran-down-a-crapper story - even though they had previously confirmed it with the Pentagon.

Fun irony-enriched fact: The White House said this morning that the Newsweek report "had damaged the US image overseas."

Bwwwwaaahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
