Following the party line, disgraced republican towelboy John McCain defended the Squinting Chimp, telling Larry King that those spreading violence in Iraq "are the same guys who would be in New York if we don't win in Iraq."

House Speaker Denny "yes, Mr DeLay" Hastert chimed in: "If there is any doubt why we are in Iraq, one must only remember the events of September 11, when the terrorists attacked our nation. We took the war to the terrorists, rather than waiting for them to attack again. It was the right thing to do."

*Note: the CIA said a week or so ago that though there were no ties between Iraq and Al Qaeda before the war, Iraq is now the number one training ground for Al Qaeda worldwide. Yep. Iraq is now "a central front in the war on terror" because Bush, in invading and occupying the country, opened it wide open for America-hating terrorists.
