Signs point to federal investigators zeroing in on DeLay
Legal experts say corrupt scumbag Tom DeLay should be very worried.
"[Federal prosecutors have] penetrated his inner sanctum," said a lawyer who's defended dozens of cases involving corruption charges. "And soon, it'll be his inner rectum This case is just beginning."
Former DeLay aides Rudy and Scanlon each face up to five years in PMITA prison and a $250,000 fine for their admitted crimes. DeLay buddy Jack Abramoff faces up to 30 years. Squealing on the slimy little fucker could save them years behind bars. Heh heh - 'behind.'
Meanwhile, criminal law experts have expressed skepticism about DeLay's explanation that he stepped down because of concerns that he'd lose his re-election bid in November.
"The guy has a hide of titanium. This is not about his election, this is about his defense of the criminal investigation," former federal prosecutor John Flannery said. "The circle is closing on him for a federal indictment."
Cal Jillson of Southern Methodist University said the re-election excuse is unlikely because DeLay is "a street fighter" unaccustomed to backing down. "That leaves the possibility that DeLay is aware of future adverse developments that are lapping at his doorstep," Jillson said.
"It's a huge embarrassment for the Republicans in every jurisdiction, from Washington to his district," said Earl Black, a political scientist at Rice University.
