Bush's general hypocrisy
The White House fired generals who wanted more troops. Now it's calling for more itself - only it may be too late.
20,000 new troops is a negligible number, say military experts - negligible meaning at this point they might not be enough just to clean up Baghdad.
[T]he White House and the Pentagon seem to agree that after nearly four years of grinding war, 20,000 extra troops is all the military can muster. Once again, Bush's attempt to stabilize Iraq might be too little, far too late.Meanwhile, the American Enterprise Institute's hamsterlike squeegeboy Fred Kagan couldn't hide his gooshy Teen Beat-like delight over the AWOL war-deserting punk thinking he knows better than experts who have actually seen combat.
"The president has retaken control of Iraq strategy," he told a crowd of reporters. "For too long I think the administration has allowed a military leadership to continue driving in the wrong direction."Squee squee squee!
