Stripie, one of the pet stray cats, hopes if he looks pitiful enough I'll let him come inside. Unfortunately, Stripie has a bad, bad cold and is covered in snot.

It's nice that you feed him/her. I always feel so sorry for them when I see stray cats outside in winter, but it is almost impossible to bring most of them inside, with all their diseases and paranoia towards other pets & people. Are you able to give him a little shelter outside? Will he accept it? I've seen some articles about humane societies that will neuter stray cats and re-release them as a humane alternative to euthanasia.
If his snot is that bad, it may be a severe upper resp issue...with the cold weather, it could lead to something worse. If you have the ability do so, I would suggest taking the kitty to the vet.
Gorgeous tabby cat...
My oldest kitty, Cookie, is 18 and an indoor-only kitty, and she's struggling with an upper respiratory infection herself right now. If there's any chance you can get hold of Stripie and take him to a vet (probably end up with a course of Baytril or something similar), I'll be happy to chip in for the vet bill. He does just look so pitiful, and I know my Cookie feels like crap with the same thing.

I keep a "pet igloo" on the back deck, and a huge old flowerpot on its side next to the back door for them. I can pet them if I'm careful... I'll try towelling him and see if I can pick him up that way.
I see Blogger swallowed my comment on Stripie. Yes, I would be glad to chip in for a vet bill as well, maru. My baby Tipper, an indoor cat, is still recovering from a nasty cold she caught two weeks ago.
Yeah, I'd throw in a donation to help Stripie too -- I know vets can be expensive, but it wouldn't take many of us throwing in a few $ to cover it..
Awww, poor Stripie! Keep us updated, please! (And yeah, I'd prolly throw some money towards you for the vet bill, if need be. As I've said, I'm a sucker for furpeople.)
Please sign me up for a donation if you can get Stripie some medical treatment.
I put a "cat door" on my garage door for all the neighbor hood strays that need a leg up. Good places to sleep and constant food offerings. I have two regulars and a host of passersbye including a possum or two.
Fraid I'd be a sucker for Stripie. Those eyes. All Stripie needs is a week to ten days inside by the fire with daily bowls of warm chicken soup, and cold gone, immune system strengthened. I wonder if Striipie and Egon would end up being good buds. This kitties eyes say he/she WANTS to join the family. Go for it.
