White House, defensive about Iraq, gets offensive

Tony Snow, questioned about the latest gpuke talking point, tells reporter to "zip it."

This morning, Tony Snow told reporters that Bush will use today's speech on the fourth anniversary of the Iraq invasion to attack the House plan as a “recipe for defeat” that would “provide a victory for the enemy.”

CNN’s Ed Henry told Snow that since he was attacking the House plan, he should explain the Bush administration’s “recipe for success.” According to Henry, Snow “tried to turn it around on me,” asking Henry what his recipe for success was. When Henry objected to Snow’s question, saying it was inappropriate for him to answer that, Snow told him to “zip it.”

Golly, what a mature thing for him to say...are we surprised? This is the same administration that has a VP who tells people to go "F" themselves. At least this is a step up in civility for them. ;)

As usual, the Neo-con mouthpieces (exemplified by Snow, but obviously inclusive of a lot of the other assholes - Hannity, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Savage, etc) are LONG of attitude -- Snow seems to prefer the 'supercilious' brand, versus the 'dismissiveness' of an O'Reilly -- but short on patience when confronted with strong, oppositional facts & logical arguments. What's funny is when you read (here -- thanks Maru! among other places) how guys like Ari Fleischer - - while always putting on a public face of "100% support" of the president's policies - - behind the scenes are running around neurotically seeking alibis/cover about being convicted for knowingly telling lies!

It almost makes you miss Ari's creepy protection-racketesque "watch what they say, watch what they do" spiel. He could at least have a chilling effect on free speech with some style.
