The Republican National Committee, hit by a grass-roots donors' rebellion over President Bush's immigration policy, has fired all 65 of its telephone solicitors. Several fired at the May 24 meeting reported declining contributions and a donor backlash against the immigration proposals.
Bush is splitting the GOP over this issue, says Reagan lapdancer Peggy Noonan and this guy from CBN:
[W]ith this bill, the White House has turned its back on its base in a way that is far more politically risky than the Iraq invasion or anything else it has attempted, and could seal Bush’s place in the history books as a failed president.
