General now needs another half-Friedman unit to assess Iraq fiasco
September is "too soon" to supply the cover the preznit needs to keep the war going in perpetuity, or until after 08, when it'll all be the Democraps' fault.
For months September has been cast as a pivotal time for determining the course of the war in Iraq, yet a top general now says a solid judgment on the US troop buildup there may not come until November.Iraq likely to miss US benchmarks, says ambassador
Will also miss landmarks, bookmarks, postmarks, goalposts, goallines, and deadlines.
The US ambassador to Baghdad Thursday warned Iraq was unlikely to hit its targets under the American "troop surge" plan by September, but said he knew of no 'Plan B' alternative war strategy.Oh good. So while Iraq is "unlikely to hit its targets," the targets that are getting hit are our troops, and there is no back-up plan to help them. Swell.
In a related story, Hillary righteously kicked some misadministration ass over their spurious claim that having a plan to get out of Iraq = supportin' the enemy.
Hillary Clinton has hit back at the Pentagon aide who charged that her questions about Iraq withdrawal planning have the effect of helping the enemy. She responded Friday in a letter to Edelman's boss, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, asking if he agreed with Edelman's charge.
She said Edelman had ducked her questions and "instead made spurious arguments to avoid addressing contingency planning."
"Undersecretary Edelman has his priorities backward," Clinton wrote, calling his claim "outrageous and dangerous."
No, no they're not.
