Makin' significant progress
Only two US soldiers were killed and 10 wounded in an attack on Tuesday, bringing the July death toll for our soldiers to only 80.

In another astonishing sign of normalcy, a suicide car bomber slammed into an Iraqi police station northeast of Baghdad on Thursday, killing at least 13 people.

And in a sure sign we're on the offensive and have the momentum, Washington misunderestimated the difficulty of getting Iraq's Sunnis and Shiites to agree on key national reconciliation measures, US Defence Secretary Robert Gates admitted on Thursday.

As things continue to go remarkably well, much of Baghdad was without running water Thursday and had been for at least 24 hours, compounding the misery of being trapped in a war zone in the blazing summer heat. Surge!
