Kickinassapalooza

Well THIS won't be covered by Fox "News" and puts a damper on the idea that al-Qaeda inspired affiliates will take over Iraq once we pull out. Our "allies" in dramatically peaceful Anbar province hate Al Qeada about the same as they hate us:

Al Qaeda, it should be said, is overwhelmingly — almost unanimously — unpopular in Anbar, as it is in the rest of Iraq. But our enemies’ enemies are not necessarily our friends. The United States, it turns out, is equally unpopular there.
In a survey conducted Aug. 17-24 for ABC News, the BBC and NHK, the Japanese broadcaster, among a random national sample of 2,212 Iraqis, 72 percent in Anbar expressed no confidence whatsoever in United States forces. Seventy-six percent said the United States should withdraw now — up from 49 percent when we polled there in March, and far above the national average.
Withdrawal timetable aside, every Anbar respondent in our survey opposed the presence of American forces in Iraq — 69 percent “strongly” so. Every Anbar respondent called attacks on coalition forces “acceptable,” far more than anywhere else in the country. All called the United States-led invasion wrong, including 68 percent who called it “absolutely wrong.”
What the rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth Reich-Wingnuts fail to understand here is that opposition to al-Qaeda does not necessarily equal pro-US sentiment. The Sunnis want us out, the Shiites want us out; both groups hate al-Qaeda and America.

Um....Katie Couric?

Right you are UL! And call me crazy, but I suspect most all of us in the US -- EVEN the Reich-wingnuts & Christo-crats -- would object to a foreign country coming halfway around the world, bombing Washington DC, invading our country with ground troops, occupying our major cities, sending THEIR companies & private security forces in to 'rebuild' our country that they bombed-out, controlling our oil - now & in the future, hunting down our President and having him tried in a kangaroo-court, after which he would be hung! And all this after 10 yrs of devastating economic sanctions causing the premature deaths of around 1 million people. I suspect that most of us would be damned skeptical that this invading country was interested in 'spreading democracy'!
