Mitt Romney, scofflaw

Above the law, are we?

The motorcade of sanctimonious twit Mitt Romney exceeded speed limits and went through stop lights today as local law officers escorted him to campaign events in two South Carolina counties.

Traffic pulled over for the flashing blue lights. Saluda County Sheriff Jason Booth, a Romney supporter, led the candidate's motorcade to the Newberry city limits.

The caravan traveled between 10 mph and 15 mph over posted speed limits of 45 mph and 55 mph.

"Uh, yes... do you think the laws don't apply to rich people?"

I've heard that PRESIDENTIAL motorcades & VICE-PRESIDENTIAL (even the ones that AREN'T part of the executive branch) motorcades do that shit - - the secret-service more or less dictates it for security reasons and I expect scheduling priorities* are another, probably primary, reason it happens. You can argue that someone who's the head of a whole branch of government (Executive) MAY deserve this treatment, but when some 3rd rate wanna-be does it, it just reeks of presumptious arrogance -- in other words, a strong Reboob candidate!

(*ie; a president can't fly into Green Bay, WI in the morning, make a speech, and then fly to St. Louis, MO and make another speech later in the afternoon if he has to wait for traffic. Of course one could well argue -- as I would -- that what's so damn pressing about an official -- Republican, Democrat, Independent, Green, or whatever -- making a non-emergency speech [and "aren't they ALL 'non-emergency?" he asked rhetorically]that it has to take on a 'traffic emergency' status?? Especially in this electronic day & age when many instantaneous communication modes are available!)
