Not disgusted enough yet?

The asshole in the White House, who has promised to veto the children's health insurance program, today said it was the Dems who are "putting poor children at risk."

God, how I hate him.

Face it... he hates kids! Especially if they're poor kids. He's more concerned about embryos than he is about poor kids. How on earth could the Dems be putting poor kids at risk? By trying to tell them that Jesus isn't real? By telling little kids they should wipe their asses with U.S. flags? It wouldn't surprise me to see the Rethugs spreading stuff as false as that.

The Republicans only care about the god-damned money. They don't care about people! Why don't more Americans get this? ARRRRRRGGHHHH

I think the problem here is that you think what's best for kids and the nation is a government funded children's health insurance program. Bush is a conservative (sorta). Conservatives tend to be economically libertarian and prefer a free market solution to problems, rather than have more government programs. With regard to healthcare, conservatives believe that the private sector is a better solution than any government health insurance program. Look at the problems that plague Canada, England, France with regard to quality of care and wait time under government funded healthcare. Look even to HMOs in this country. People are more at risk at a governement funded HMO than a private hospital with private insurance. That's not even getting into how it affects tax payers, doctors and other patients. My point isn't that you are wrong (which you are), but that you are making assumptions based on being close minded to other people's intentions and ideas.

Would you care to cite some real statistics or are we to just accept that you're right?

Actually, the health care system works pretty well in Canada; well enough to the point that in the current election campaign in Ontario, the Liberal party can run ads against the Conservative candidates saying they, the Tories, want to bring "U.S. style" health care to Ontario.

So before you claim that government health insurance programs, prove it.

Edit: So before you claim that government health insurance programs don't work, prove it.

I was disgusted enough on December 12, 2000, but last night, I discovered Yahoo search ranked me #1 for "disgusted with George Bush."

Hate is such a strong word. But alas, not strong enough. I try to think of a word that distills the feeling of imminent explosion when I think of the Presidunce, but....it is almost like those ineffable mystic experiences, you know, except not fun and you want to shower afterwards!

Geez BO, stop listening to Rush, O'Reilly, the AMA, and other right-wingers & Libertarians. Read some studies like those mentioned here (http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0607-27.htm ) and actual first-person examples like this (http://www.commondreams.org/views03/1110-12.htm )

How can you call a country that doesn't even cover 47 million/16% of it's population a 'better solution'?

And the unrestrained 'free-market' solutions have ALREADY been tried and found wanting! Ever read about the wretched conditions that working people had in the industrialized countries (England, US, etc) back in the late 1800's when the 'free-market' ruled and all the power was with those who had the dollars??

It's times like these, Maru, when I realize how much I love you. I'd elope with you, but then, we'd have 15 cats to deal with and fewer people. Keep on ripping the assholes more new assholes.
