John McCain's latest ad in South Carolina and New Hampshire: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Vietnamese prison, Jesus --
"One night, after being mistreated as a POW, a guard loosened the ropes binding me, easing my pain," McCain narrates in the 30-second spot. "On Christmas, that same guard approached me, and without saying a word, he drew a cross in the sand.""And that's when I cried, 'Dammit, Jesus, why can't you get me the fuck out of here?!?'"
The ad uses grainy footage to re-enact the moment as a man, off screen, draws a cross in the dirt using a twig.
"We stood wordlessly looking at the cross, remembering the true light of Christmas," the ad continues.

Actually, the guard was trying to tell McCain that he would switch the electrical power from negative to positive to give them a chance to make a break for it that night. The guard had expected an Air Force pilot to understand technical symbolism well enough to know what the "+" meant and how it applied to the security fence situation. The loosening of the ropes was meant to tell him he was going to help them escape.
McCain, however, had completely forgotten his scientific technical training while praying to the God of Christmas for the cavalry to follow another huge bomb-run and ground-pounder.
