After repeated and vigorous bitchslapping, the misogynist blowhard finally makes a statement:
Under pressure from feminist groups and his own bosses at MSNBC, smarmy slimebucket Chris Matthews sort of apologized yesterday for remarks about Hillary Clinton that he now admits sounded "nasty."Nice. Then there are these assholes.
For 10 days, the loathsome chauvinist had doggedly insisted he was just reciting a bit of history when he nastily said on the air that "the reason she's a U.S. senator, the reason she's a candidate for president, the reason she may be a front-runner is her husband messed around."
But protests against those and other remarks by Matthews reached a peak yesterday when the presidents of such groups as the National Organization for Women, Feminist Majority and National Women's Political Caucus sent a joint letter of complaint to NBC News President Steve Capus.
As criticism from liberal bloggers and others mounted over the past week, top MSNBC officials urged Matthews to apologize, according to network officials who would not be identified. But Matthews dug in his heels, deciding to deliver the mea culpa only after he had returned from a Democratic presidential debate sponsored by the network in Las Vegas.
Media Matters has Tweety's full explanation/"apology."
