Pundits take one in the teeth ass

No matter what issues you may have with professional xenophobe/crab-ass Lou Dobbs, on this he's right on the money:

"Many of our political savants and pundits took one in the teeth last night. I couldn't be happier about last night's surprising results, and not because I favor one candidate or another. I'm just glad the so-called experts in the national media were wrong about their premature assumptions that the Democratic and Republican nominations for president were a done deal."
Salon's Rebecca Traister:
"The glee with which Matthews and other angry male pundits prematurely danced on Hillary's grave made me -- for one night only -- a Clinton supporter...

"I have not been a Hillary Clinton supporter. But the torrent of ill-disguised hatred and resentment unleashed toward a briefly weakened Clinton this week shook that breezy naiveté right out of me... I can't believe I'm saying this, but had I been a New Hampshire voter on Tuesday, I would have pulled a lever for the former first lady with a song in my heart and a bird flipped at MSNBC's Chris Matthews, a man whose interest in bringing Clinton down hovers on the pathological, and whose drooling excitement at the prospect of her humiliation began to pulse from the television last week before most Iowa precincts had even begun to report results.

"Before any tallies were in, Matthews was observing, based on early projections, that if Clinton received the expected 30 percent, it would mean that seven of 10 Iowa voters did not like her, a mean little metric that he did not apply to the other candidates. "It's hard to call yourself the people's choice if two-thirds of the Democrats are voting against you!" he burbled. He was not alone in his glee."
And Tom Brokaw practically reaches over to bitchslap a frothing, rabid Tweety:
"This is one of the great triumphs in recent years in American presidential politic -- Hillary Clinton is back and the rest of us who were saying out loud that this was not going to happen, you know we have a lot of explaining to do. And by "we" I mean you, fatass."
Well, he should have, anyway.

Glenn Greenwald has more.

I wonder if the bad polling prediction is related to the same issue that was seen by Gov. Wilder in Virginia. It's been observed that white voters are more likely to tell pollsters that they will vote for a black candidate than they are to actually vote for one.

Wilder was going to win the governor's office by a comfortable margin according to the polling. He did win, but the count was so close that it required a recount.

The progressive blogs also are to blame. TPM, The Huff Post and FDL all lied and threw Clinton's blood in the water.
