Loosen the throat, John. You can get a few more inches in that way.

St. McCain can't get himself enough GWB.

The New York Times writes that Sen. John McCain will ask George W. Bush to fundraise for him, but does not “want the president to appear too often at his side.” U.S. News reports:

President Bush is increasingly confident that John McCain, as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, will be an effective defender of the major Bush policies such as cutting taxes, fighting terrorism, and winning the Iraq war, according to White House aides.

Standing at an event this morning with former President George H.W. Bush to receive his and Barbara’s endorsement, McCain was asked whether he “would be in effect carrying out a third Bush term.”

“I’d be honored to have President George Bush’s support, his endorsement,” McCain responded. “And I’d be honored to be anywhere with him under any circumstances.” He added, “I am proud of this president’s strategy in Iraq.”

*barf, gagging, more barf*

Geez -- it SHOULDN'T be a shock to me anymore after following politics off & on since 1960 (and that includes NIXON/AGNEW/REAGAN and ALL those hypocritical assholes...), but I still can't help but be surprised at how these guys (and some of the few women that hold office) compromise/prostitute themselves to SUCH a degree! While I never had any plans of voting Republican, I used to generally perceive McCain as somewhat of an independent (militaristic, but seemingly independent of the Neo-Con craze in the GOP) and sort of 'his own man'. But now I just can't help but perceive him as having the 'battered wife syndrome'. After the way the Bush machine trashed him back in South Carolina a couple of elections ago - - and now he's kissing their asses?!?
