A special kind of dishonesty

How to beat Tim Russert in an interview or debate? Make sure you tell him you're a republican.

Jamison Foser on Timmeh's "when did you stop beating your wife?" double standard when it comes to Dems:

During this week's Democratic presidential debate, Russert didn't ask a single question about global warming, continuing his longstanding habit of all but ignoring the topic. He didn't ask a single question about the mortgage crisis. (As one Cleveland resident noted, "We've got the mortgage industry's toxic waste scattered all over this city, but Mr. Blue-Collar-Buffalo-and-Cleveland-Marshall-Guy Russert couldn't be bothered with a question about it.") He didn't ask a single question about executive power, the Constitution, torture, wiretapping, or other civil-liberties concerns. But that shouldn't come as a surprise; of all the questions he has asked while moderating presidential debates during this campaign, only one has dealt with any of those topics.

He has, however, asked Dennis Kucinich what he felt compelled to insist was a "serious question" -- whether Kucinich has seen a UFO. And he has asked about John Edwards' expensive haircut.
He also has asked the Democratic candidates what their favorite Bible verse is.
But that's what passes for being a "tough" interviewer these days: the pose of confrontation rather than genuinely challenging questions, the query designed to embarrass rather than enlighten, the worship of, rather than the challenge to, conventional wisdom.

The corporations that run the networks that keep these pundits on the payroll are such obvious traitors of the true American way. By making a lame duck out of the MSM, they have neutralized any serious critical perspective of the corporate ruling-class and secured their own absolute power over reality as we know it.

Right again Maru! I'm SOOoo sick of hearing that crap about Russert being such a 'tough questioner' - - NO, HE'S NOT!! He's a status-quo/mainstream Republican enabler who asks 'tough' (though often rhetorical & frivelous in import) questions of Democrats/liberals but gives his powerful Republican/Neo-con buddies softballs.

Plus Russert has a look about him that suggests a lineage that traces to inbred cannibal moles that evidence a broad penchant for secret sadism rituals to vent frustrations from suffering a miserable form of a lumpen inducing indigestion caused by locking lips and sucking too long at the asshole of the ideological dysentary disease known as Conservatardism.
