Wtf? Does this have something to do with that whole "guns, religion and morons" thing? The Bush White House proudly flies the Confederate flag at the South Lawn ceremony honoring the Pope Wednesday, April 16, 2008.
Yee-haw!

That's a head scratcher. When I saw it, I assumed they were in S. Caroline or Arkansas or some place! What a moron.
Well, that wasn't nice. Or very smart, considering that the reason Bush and his Neocons are able to do what they do is because they've centralized all power in their grubby little hands -- so they can reconstruct the world according to their enlightened blueprints.
Whereas ...
... those of us still upholding the Southern tradition of dispersed power (that is, "States' Rights") not only oppose the illegal war in Iraq, but want a return to Constitutional government (including our traditional rights to habeas corpus, freedom of speech, etc.).
By attacking regionalism, you're supporting the nationalists. Careful what you wish for.
Well, shor 'nuf, we all miss the good ole days of slavery and lynchings. Fools never knew that had it so good.
just think how the rest if the world views us now! Oh yes, we still hold onto our dear slave history with pride, I think they both forgot there grandmaster hoods!
WOW!
It's not the confederate flag, it's the Mississippi state flag
The mythology of DC as the world's liberator is what keeps the war maching chugging along.
Slavery was legal in both North and South until the passage of the 13th amendment -- and West Virginia was admitted to the Union in 1863 during the War as a slave state. General McClellan even assured plantation owners there the Federal government would protect their slaves.
Like all other aggressive wars, the Civil War was fought over money and power, not to liberate black people in the South.
sailor, OK. Hard to tell from the pic.
Interesting that the Mississippi state flag actually contains the Confederate Battle Flag within it! Nothing like celebrating THAT heritage...

Maru, agreed, it's hard to tell from the pic, and as much as I wanted your post to be true, I just had to do some research.
And, as opposed to all those who insist on living outside of blogtopia*, we proudly live in a reality based community.
That's a good thing.
Warm regards,
Sailor
