Signs of Spring

Catbirds on the back deck eating our stray cat's cat food
Four -- four!! -- Orioles!
Robins nesting in the wisteria right outside the back door
Bluebirds
A box turtle coming out of its hibernation-hole under the oak tree
Water irises blooming in the fish pond
Maru on the deck smoking cigars at 9 in the morning

How's your morning going? :)

that's so awesome Maru! We have orioles. They like to hang upside down on the hummingbird feeder and drink. Can't say I haven't been there (but not on the hummingbird feeder, at our local pub). they are so beautiful!

Gee - 4 orioles (I assume there the Baltimore Orioles?)... I was happy to glimpse one of them last week in a nearby nature center.
Living next to a man-made pond, we see the ubiquitous Canada goose and mallards, one of which has been nesting right off our porch in some Juniper bushes. Back in the 1990's we used to see a variety of migrating ducks, but not the last few years.

It's neat seeing the geese with their 3-6 goslings swimming in line..

Anyway, gotta go to work. Have a good holiday!

Yes, they're Baltimores -- boy, they're gorgeous. Hummingbird feeder, huh? I'll have to pick up one this week!

Sailor's sailing! We have a nice wind here, but it's still a bit too cool to be out in the water.

We had three orioles, all males, eating oranges on the deck table. Absolutely gorgeous.

The hummers are building their nests. The feeders empty out quickly.

The robins and family have built their ingenious little home comprised of (among other thing) string and green plastic wire (?)on my terrace.
The woodpeckers hang upside down on the feeders to eat.

A stray cat found her way into my bedroom and gave birth to 3 babies in the bottom drawer of an antique chest. Mom and kids are doing well.

Yes, it's spring.

Temperatures are back down to the normal (60s and 70s) after some blistering heat that killed a lot of my plants.

Cigars? Those things will fuckin' kill ya, girl (hides cigarette pack surreptitiously).

No orioles out here, but the robins and jays are out, and some cute tiny finches.
