Sweet!

Angry, senile, frothing nutjob is challenging the inspiring, cool, calm and collected Barack Obama to join him in 10 town hall meetings between now and August.

Whew. I think this tells us more about media coverage of McCain v. media coverage of Obama than anything else.

Clearly, I think, McCain is counting on the continued support of the media to spin his verbal gaffes as minor missteps and parse the hell out of each of Obama's statements to produce wildly inaccurate senses.

Only one way to find out--

I agree with Chris, that "..McCain is counting on the continued support of the media to spin his verbal gaffes as minor missteps and parse the hell out of each of Obama's statements to produce wildly inaccurate senses" because, unfortunately, it's an all too accurate assumption -- verging on being de facto policy of the MSM since AT LEAST the late 1970's when Reagan ran against Carter. Republicans can say OUTRAGEOUS, NASTY things and the MSM's response is typically a parroting of Repuke's "let Reagan be Reagan" 'justification' (which is actually NO justification, just an empty, distracting redundancy). Look what the MSM did with Al Gore, for instance (link: http://www.consortiumnews.com/2000/020100a.html), while Reagan/W/McCain can ACTUALLY say some really outrageous stupid crap and the MSM just turn it into a competition as to who can explain-it-away-as-inconsequential most quickly!

That's what worries me about the upcoming election -- the almost 50% of the American Sheeple who are barely interested in politics and get their political reality from the MSM and political spots. Their too susceptible to the 'easy answer' which the Repukes are happy to offer up, even if they need to lie to do it.

PS - Maru... I LOVE the iconography of Grampa Simpson/John McCain ! That's just TOO apropos! Especially the one with Grampa Simpson yelling at the cloud (and --in the TV program -- later bragging that he bested the cloud in their argument!)
