This is really good news!

Still a lot of work to be done, but more than 100,000 rare gorillas have been found in the Congo:

An estimated 125,000 Western lowland gorillas are living in a swamp in
equatorial Africa, researchers reported Tuesday, double the number of the endangered primates thought to
survive worldwide.

Saw this yesterday and it was one of the few environmental 'improvements' (albeit accidentally )in recent times. It's always depressing when you hear the SMALL amount of large animals (polar bears, lions, tigers, whales, etc) and then compare that number to the ever burgeoning human population of 6+ BILLION, which continues to reduce or defile the habitat for the other animal species, with only the cockroaches, pigeons, raccoons, white tailed deer, etc benefitting from the human effect.
