Those dark cityscapes (Batman has some of them too) always make me wonder 'WHO would voluntarily what to LIVE in a foreboding place like that??' People do live in bleak forelorn places, but usually it's due to lack of options -- they were born into it (ie; Eskimos or Siberians, etc) and they know no other way AND don't have the resources to move. But these futuristic/sci-fi cityscapes imply that there are obviously the resources/knowledge to build exotic sky-scrapers, but why would they end up being so ill-lit?? It just seems counter-intuitive... unless the race of beings inhabiting it had low-light tolerances compared to present day humans.

Some of the other views of Coruscant look beautiful, with the skyscrapers all lit up. This one, not so much.
