Oh, for the love of.... if there were any more suction going on here the rest of the ozone layer would be in danger of disappearing. From the AP, surprise surprise:
"President George W. Bush will be judged on what he did. He will also be remembered for what he's like: a fast-moving, phrase-mangling Texan an oblivious, retarded disastermonkey who stays upbeat even though his country is not."
There, fixed it. Il DuceBag, the new Nero. Cutting brush and wind at his fake photo-op fleapit while the country burned. There's your fucking legacy, douchewad.
Frank Rich, God bless him, has more in a blazing must-read:
"Even the banality of evil is too grandiose a concept for 43. He is smaller than life."

Wins by cheating but the numbers who voted for him the second time relect dramatically the IQ of voters and our society.
Yeah, One Fly, I think that this country ONLY elects a good president (or any other political office-holder) here or there by sheer ACCIDENT! Think about it - - first all candidates effectively have to pass through a pretty narrow 'economic culture' filter, normally meaning that only those that have the money (OR appeal to those who have the money) for advertising/campaigning/schmoozing/etc. Then they have to give the perfunctory tip-of-the-hat to US militarism by saying they WON'T cut the excessive military spending or actively pursue peace. The candidates who can get through to this stage are typically known as 'serious candidates', and the differences -- while they do exist -- are usually not that significant. (I suspect that in 4 yrs we'll STILL be in Iraq & Afghanistan, but I voted for Obama because at least I don't think we'll be in Iran like we would've with McCain).
When you look back at our presidents, even the good ones like FDR were (at least initially) elected for a stupid reason -- that he was going to 'cut spending'. And Kennedy (assuming you consider him generally good) was probably in great degree elected because he was more photogenic than the cretin Nixon. Same thing with Clinton (whom I twice voted for) - - he most likely won over Bush & then Dole because of his saxophone playing on MTV & The Tonight Show(? I think it was?) and his salesman personality, more than he did for his centrist Democratic policies.
To paraphrase HL Mencken slightly, no one ever went broke or lost public office underestimating the intelligence of the American public!
