After all the outrage -- entirely justifiable as it is -- I'm struck by how malleable and morally complacent too many of the US public is, and how relatively easily the press has been cowed by the rabid right. This country (as well as all others) has always had (and always will have) a supply of right-wing crazies ready to ruin the country, but we normally we've steered away from installing them as POTUS. Thank heavens W was either stupid as a rock or was 'on-the-rocks' again, because if he had been moderately coherent he could well have been another Hitler. (That's been the main educational lesson of these 8 yrs to me - - I used to wonder how the German population in the 1930's ever elected/supported Hitler. Now I don't wonder.)
