Party before country

As repukes circle what's left of their wagons to form a tiny firing-squad, frightened Obama nominee recants, swears his allegiance to Rush, Reagan and Rove.

Saying "I made a mistake," Republican Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire abruptly withdrew as commerce secretary nominee on Thursday in an embarrassing setback to President Barack Obama's efforts to bridge party differences ...

Huh. Nice, SCLM. I don't think so. There is nothing embarrassing about the President working hard to try and bring people together in helping to fix the many huge problems the Bush misadministration left us with. Rather it is another embarrassing setback for the do-nothing rethuglican party, unless it really IS their aim to a) maintain permanent minority status in DC, and b) remain almost universally loathed as hyper-partisan, obstructionist scumbags. Check this out:

Leading Republicans said the move amounted to a repudiation of Obama's "liberal agenda" and a rebuke of his bipartisan outreach. Pudfaced Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he expects Gregg to receive a "standing ovation" when he walks into the next gathering of the Senate Republican Conference.

Nice. Woohoo, high-fives! We showed 'em! We're not going to work with the President to get the country back on track! Jeebus. Talk about hating America. What the fuck is their problem, anyway? OK, Mr President, you tried being Mr Nice Guy. Now its time to show them the back of your pimp-hand. Fuck 'em.

When I saw last night that the conference bill got zero GOP votes in the House, I thought to myself, "NOW do you get it? There is no bargaining with these people."

So: Does he get it?

A couple of months of trying to play nice then fuck 'em up. That's the Chicago way.

They are positioning for midterms. Complete distance from the American meltdown will allow them to place blame squarely upon democrats for all of the effects of Bush.
