Former Vice President Cheney charged Sunday morning on CNN that President Obama is using the recession “to try to justify” what is probably the largest expansion of federal authority “in the history of the Republic.”“I worry a lot that they’re using the current set of economic difficulties to try to justify a massive expansion in the government, and much more authority for the government over the private sector,” Cheney -- who used the 9/11 terrorist attacks to justify a massive expansion of federal authority, including illegal wiretapping and torture -- said. “I don’t think that’s good."
Fuck you. And fuck Politico and John King at CNN.

Firstly, all Politico is is a propaganda machine of the right wingnut coservatard fascists.
Secondly, John King is a patsy for the right wingnut coservatard fascists.
John King is an idiot who needs to take some journalistic lessons from John 'The Man' Stewart.
As usual, NO historical perspective from the Reich-wingers like Cheney! His 1930's brethren would certainly object to his characterizing this as 'the largest expansion of Federal authority in the history of the US'! The wealthy fat-cats of the 30's/40's hated FDR and constantly criticized and tried to undermine his programs, and -- among other things -- charging FDR with the same thing. However, they did have a point back then -- FDR DID expand Federal authority hugely, arguably more than any other POTUS in the domestic economic arena at least. And most of the country liked and approved of it, as many of us (myself included) do now - - I don't want my bank to fail and all my savings to be gone like it used to happen every 20 odd years back in the 1850's -> 1920's. I want a minimum wage, unemployment compensation, Social Security, effective regulatory agencies etc.
Cheney is the antithesis of credibility -- you can virtually depend on him to vigorously state the 'un-truth'. If he says it's raining out, leave your umbrella at home.
