Quote of the day II

"CNN has the balls to give Obama a "grade" for his first hundred days. It'd be nice if we could give CNN a grade on how well they 'kept them honest' during the Bush administration"
-- Fixer, at Alternate Brain.

Paranoia May Destroy Ya

Amid all the hand wringing and sphincter clenching news about the civilizaton ending Piggy Flu, A reality check: the plain old regular flu has killed thousands since January.

(CNN) -- There had been no confirmed deaths in the United States related to swine flu as of Tuesday afternoon. But another virus had killed thousands of people since January and is expected to keep killing hundreds of people every week for the rest of the year.

That one? The regular flu.

Pass this shit along......and wash your hands, for fuck's sake. And I swear to Allah, if I hear anybody mention the word pandemic........

BREAKING: Sarah Palin joins Twitter, but doesn't follow her former running-mate.

Palin is already following Fux Nooze buddies, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly and spreads around the media love by following David Gregory of NBC's Meet the Press, George Stephanopoulos of ABC News, and the breaking news feed for CNN.

Curiously, however, she doesn't seem to be following Katie Couric, or anybody from CBS.

She also is following a wide variety of politicians including Gov. Bobby Jindal, Tim Pawlenty, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Sen. Jim DeMint.

McCain, although a stalwart Tweeter, is noticeably absent. And although Meghan McCain finds it 'creepy' the famous 'hockey mom' is following creepy bloated antichrist Karl Rove.

    Think Progress reports (mostly):

In last night's press conference, Obama spent nearly a full hour answering questions from reporters, from media organizations such as the Detroit News, the AP, BET, the Daily Nosebag of Iowa City, the Maswegan Poultry Tribune, the North Bumfuck Probe-Register of North Dakota, the Miami Standard-Review Times, the Waco Herald-Post-Record-Tribune Ledger-Review and all three cable networks -- ABC, NBC, and CBS. One outlet that didn't get a question? Fox "News", whose affiliate was the only network station that decided not to air the prime-time news conference.

Poll: Bush getting even more unpopular out of office

The new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll found that the former Dictator-tot's popularity has dropped since he left office.

When he left office in January, 31 percent of American's viewed him positively. That number has now dropped to 26 percent.

    The Prez targets the teabaggers:

At his 100th-day town hall meeting in St. Louis, President Obama took direct aim at the “tea party” demonstrations that cropped up over the last month – and took a veiled shot at Fox "News," the network closely associated with the protests.

Asked about fiscal discipline and entitlements reform, Obama seemed to be repressing a smile as he jabbed critics of his spending plans.

"Those of you who are watching certain news channels on which I'm not very popular, and you see folks waving tea bags around, Obama said, “let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security.”

“But,” Obama continued, “let's not play games and pretend that the reason [for the deficit] is because of the Recovery Act."

Tearful obstructionist has another hissyfit, but neglects to provide any sort of constructive countermeasures. Spray-tanned, whiny and clueless is no way to go through Congress, moron.

The top House WATB said Tuesday that the "liberal" bills being pushed by President Obama and congressional Democrats make him "want to throw up."

Permanent-Minority Leader John "butt-hurt" Boehner burbled in an interview that decisions such as closing Guantanamo Bay and releasing classified memos on CIA torture techniques reflect a dangerous, "piecemeal approach" to national security.

"They have no plan for taking on the terrorists, and they have no plan for keeping America safe," he whined to the Moonie Times.

"After 100 days, Obama's approval ratings remain sky-high"

A new poll by the WSJ shows Prez Obama’s numbers are higher than Bush, Clinton, and the holy corpse of St Ronnie of Reagan. You were saying WHAT again, Dickless? Oozing fuck.

As he enters his 100th day in office, President Barack Obama enjoys higher marks from the American public than his most recent predecessors did at similar points in their presidencies, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

In addition, 54 percent believe the president is off to a “great” or “good start;” 59 percent say he’s accomplished a “great deal” or a “fair amount;” and 64 percent feel more hopeful about the direction of the country with Obama in office.

Also in the poll, 43 percent say the country is on the right track, a 17-point jump since January.

So who exactly is it that's out of touch with mainstream American values, rethugs?

    Specter's defection roils Republicants

Olbermann torturing Hannity over his waterboard offer

When he doesn't get a reply from the chickenshitted loudmouth, Keith takes it to a new level. Soon the entire intarweb will know what a yellow cockgobbling putz Hannity is. Awesome.

After blithering troglodyte Sean Hannity made an impromptu offer last week to undergo waterboarding as a benefit for charity, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann leapt at it. He offered $1,000 to the families of U.S. troops for every second Hannity withstood the technique.

Olbermann repeated the offer on Monday's show and said in an interview Tuesday that he's heard no response. He said he'll continue to pursue it.

"I don't think he has the courage to even respond to this — let alone do it," Olbermann said.

Fox News Channel representatives did not respond to requests for comment.

Why does Sean Hannity hate our troops??????

Moderate repubs told to GTFO of party

In their bid to maintain minority status before disappearing entirely in a self-created black hole of suckitude, rightwingnut dittomonkeys across the interwebs are castigating the less-rabid members of their party. Here's a sample of some of the comments posted after Olympia Snowe said the GOP has abandoned its principles -- whatever they hell THEY were -- and called the Specter switch "devastating":

  • Shouldn't this be keyworded as satire? It is right?
  • Ms. Snowe, you can do much more than witness the departure, you can join Mr. Specter if it will ease your pain.
  • Why don’t you join him Ms. Snow... There’s no room in the Republican party for Dumocrats.
  • Stupid hussy still doesn't get it. She needs to go with Specter.

Swine flu outbreak is caused by illegal immigrants.

    Coming soon, their time-tested solution:
    Tax cuts!!!

    So now he's our weasel

-- quote from Steve J via Twitter.

Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter will switch from the Republican't to the Democratic Party. From his statement:

Since my election in 1980, as part of the Reagan Big Tent, the Republican Party has moved far to the right. Last year, more than 200,000 Republicans in Pennsylvania changed their registration to become Democrats. I now find my political philosophy more in line with Democrats than Republicans.

It has become clear to me that the stimulus vote caused a schism which makes our differences irreconcilable. On this state of the record, I am unwilling to have my twenty-nine year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate. I have not represented the Republican Party. I have represented the people of Pennsylvania.

I have decided to run for reelection in 2010 in the Democratic primary.

Bonus: "No Senator, no matter how loyal he is to his party, should put party loyalty above his duty to the state and nation."

Bonus 2: GOP moderates put the blame squarely on rightwingnut dittomonkeys --

Two leading Republican moderates say Sen. Arlen Specter's decision to become a Democrat highlights the hostility moderates feel from an increasingly conservative GOP. “You haven't certainly heard warm encouraging words about how [the GOP] views moderates,” said Maine Sen. Olympia Snowe. Snowe said the party's message has been, “Either you're with us or you’re against us.” Her frustration was shared by Sen. Lindsay Graham, who slammed right-wing interest groups for pushing moderates out of the party.

Bonus 3: a hysterical response from rethug Sen. John Cornyn of Texas --

“Senator Specter’s decision today represents the height of political self-preservation. While this presents a short-term disappointment, voters next year will have a clear choice to cast their ballots for a potentially unbridled Democrat super-majority versus the system of checks-and-balances that Americans deserve.”

Right. Well, maybe you republitards can just gerrymander some states to fix the votes again... oh wait, you can't anymore. Awwwwwwz. Fuck you and your morally bankrupt party of powermad troglodytes. And you can blame yourselves.

Unfortunately, not in THAT way, but still. Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!

Part of the blubbery fuckwit's dittomonkey base is up in arms, so to speak --

Rush Limbaugh's support for the Humane Society is riling sportsmen from coast to coast, prompting fears that the impotent junkie is aiding a group they say has a secret agenda to end all hunting in America.

Twenty-eight groups representing millions of hunters and sportsmen are demanding that the conservaturd hate-radio commentator end his collaboration with the HSUS and stop "helping them to mainstream their image in the minds of reasonable people."

Whoa: one of the main constituents of your party takes you to task. What do you do? What DO you do?

Well, for starters, the cowardly "Mr" Limpbag "did not answer requests for comment" -- by that moonbat hippie rag the Moonie Times.

Bonus 2: comments at the website "are temporarily disabled." I bet they are!

    Oh really

Dems want to talk about anything other than Obama. So says The Hill's Doug Heye, through his ass:

The economy is in deep recession (thanks, rethugs), with massive layoffs announced every week (ditto); we're faced with war in Afghanistan and Iraq (thanks, Bush/Cheney) and now must battle a swine flu that threatens to turn into a pandemic (thanks, Susan Collins et al), which puts public health at risk and has already caused the European Union to issue a travel warning on visiting the United States and Mexico (even though you repugs hate the EU and Mexico). And yet what are we talking about? Whether or not Dick Cheney is the leader of the Republican Party.
No, YOU are. Dems are talking about the swine flu, how popular the President is, St Ronnie's views on waterboarding, Prez Obama's high polling results, your filibuster of Kathleen Sebelius, the high marks the President is getting, Arlen Specter becoming a DINO rather that a RINO, and how much you guys suck in the polls.

    Jerkoff. Get with the program.

Palin's legal fund faces ethics challenge

The standard-bearer for the Redneck Spittoon Party of Fambly Valyoos is in the news again --

An ethics complaint filed against values candidate Sarah Palin claims the legal defense fund formed last week to challenge such claims is an ethics violation itself.

The complaint filed Monday claims Palin is misusing the governor's office for personal gain by securing unwarranted benefits and receiving improper gifts through her Facebook account.

"It's obvious the intent is to see her administration paralyzed," a Palin spokeswoman whined, as the gov. whisked off to attend yet another talk show and GOP fundraiser in the Lower 48.

Cafferty: time for Cheney to go fuck himself

    Or go hunting. Whatever.

'It's time for the Republican't Party to tell raving psycho Dick Cheney to put a sock in it.'

Here we are 100 days into the new administration of Barack Obama, and Darth Vader is still wandering around grumbling about why the new administration is all wrong. Nobody is interested anymore, Mr. Vice President. You and your gaggle of miscreants had your shot, and we are in the toilet because of it. Don't you get it?

The election of this nation's first African-American president and his massacre of John McCain in the Electoral College is because of you and President Bush and the myriad problems you left us all with...

This country used to stand for something before you and [Pweznit Lawn Ornament] got your hooks into it. Now our reputation is shot, we are bankrupt, we continue to fight two wars that you started and the economy is in the worst recession since the Great Depression. And you have the temerity to go around criticizing those who replaced you? How dare you?

    More good stuff here.

GOP wants to talk about anything other than how great Obama's doing

Thinking they're comedians, Fox will air an episode of "Lie to Me" Wednesday instead of the Prez' address. Funny and even more pathetic: its not a live feed from the usual Fox "News" programs.

They don't even try to pretend anymore: Fox has decided to stick with its regular line-up on Wednesday, meaning it won't air President Obama's prime-time news conference marking his 100th day in office.

But... but... he's destroying why does the Fox Nutwork hate America?

    Fairly Imbalanced

GOP TV Fox "News" cums out of the closet and makes it official.

President Obama’s prime time press conference will air on one fewer channel this week.

Fox is “sticking with its regular schedule” on Wednesday night, The Associated Press reports, marking “the first time a broadcast network has refused Obama’s request” for airtime.

The press conference, scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday, will be Mr. Obama’s third of the year. It will mark his first 100 days in office. ABC, CBS and NBC, along with a multitude of cable networks, will carry the press conference live.
Hmmmmm. Not making it too obvious, are they? They are probably just exhausted from all of the teabagging.
I'm sure that conveniently edited clips of the press conference will be available for the the usual bashing afterwards.

    April 27, 2009

Blowjobs put our nation in peril; war crimes - not so much

The Weekly Yambag's Bill "Always Wrong" Kristol pulls another one out of his well-worn ass:

""We have been through a dark and painful chapter in our history," President Obama said when he ordered the release of the Justice Department interrogation memos. Actually, no. Not at all. We were attacked on 9/11. We responded to that by using the Constitution as a beer-coaster and... what? Oh. The dark and painful chapter we have to fear is Obama's, in which politicians preen moralistically as they throw patriotic officials who helped keep this country safe to the wolves... Obama throws the door open to years of lawsuits and investigations that will do injustice to those who've served the country and will demoralize those still seeking to do so."

Yeah -- tell that to Bill Clinton, you hypocritical douchewad.

Support for GOP dips after teabagging

No, that's not right. It SHOULD read 'Support for GOP-dips dips after teabagging'.

Analyzing the polls post-tea party shows Obama's approval has either been steady or has increased, right- and wrong-track significantly better, and the GOP has either declined or are still in the same sorry state...

There is a warning sign for the GOP in the new poll: 21 percent of those surveyed said they identify as Republicans, the fewest to do so in a Post-ABC poll in more than 25 years.

[T]here are no signs of a dramatic rebound for the party, and the chance of Republicans winning control of either chamber in the 2010 midterm elections is zero. Not "close to zero." Not "slight" or "small." Zero.

"As a matter of reality, in the first 100 days, [the Republican't Party] has not done anything to improve its political position with regards to the fact that it has been a shrinking entity."

So much for the huge populist uprising! The sense of rebellion brewing!

Poll: majority of America-hatin' Minnesotans also hate Norm Coleman

Via AmericaBlog -- A new Star-Tribune poll makes it pretty clear that the people of the North Star State have had it with their former Senator. Besides the rising calls of 'Go fuck a gopher, Norm!' echoing off his fat head.

Nearly two-thirds of Minnesotans surveyed think obstructionist asshat Norm Coleman should pack it in, for the love of God already, and concede the U.S. Senate race to Al Franken.

    Yeah! God bless America.

John McCain admitted on Face The Nation this weekend that the Bush/Cheney misadministration violated the Geneva Conventions regarding the torture of prisoners.

MCCAIN: "[W]e violated fundamental commitments that the United States of America made when we signed the Geneva Conventions. And we disregarded what might happen to Americans who are held captive in the future. And by the way, those who say our enemies won’t abide the Geneva Conventions -- they will if they know there’s going to retribution for their violation of it."

LibraryGrape: that means that the people that formulated the torture policy are guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Stuff that we routinely call on other nations to prosecute.

    Playing politics with public health

News quiz: which party fought to keep money devoted to pandemic preparation out of the stimulus bill?

If you guessed the "Morally Bankrupt Party of Permanent Irrelevance," you win a free intarnet!

When House Appropriations Committee chairman David Obey, the Wisconsin Democrat who has long championed investment in pandemic preparation, included roughly $900 million for that purpose in this year's emergency stimulus bill, he was ridiculed by conservative operatives such as porcine antichrist Karl Rove and congressional Republicans.

[T]hey bet that they would be able to score their political points without any consequences.

Now that fears of a pandemic have been raised, however, it is appropriate to ask whether individuals who are so manifestly irresponsible and partisan should be taken seriously.

And why SOME of them are not yet rotting in prison.

Bonus nutfuckery: the GOP are also delaying the confirmation of the HHS secretary.

Disclaimer: some Dems also voted against the pandemic funding, and they also should be ridiculed. And rest assured, wingnutopia is already busy doing just that. But it was the rethugs who were all over the media blasting the very idea.

    Along with volcano monitoring.

Another belch from the black hole of stupid

Dueling headlines at freetardia today almost cause a blip in the space-time continuum:

  • Obama went golfing during swine flu public health emergency warning!!!!!1!

  • Obama to not let crisis go to waste with press conference @ 9AM this am per Fox News. What will TOTUS add that was not said yesterday.

  • Btw, 'TOTUS' = telepromper of the US. Sigh. This is why we can NEVER let up. Ever.

    Scary Humans

    Maybe it's just shitty Karma:

So Bobby Jindal makes fun of “volcano monitoring”, and soon afterwards Mt. Redoubt erupts. Susan Collins makes sure that funds for pandemic protection are stripped from the stimulus bill, and the swine quickly attack.

It seems like some Republicans still haven’t realized that they lost big-time last November because the American people are sick and tired of their style of politics. And here’s Exhibit A: a conservative faction of the Republican National Committee wants the party to brand Democrats as Socialists... None of this seems like the best way for the party to attract voters.

For the most part, the pinko commie hippies commenting at the Cafferty File agree: "We want ideas, not schoolyard tactics."

Majority of Americans give high marks to socialist commie

In new polls, Prez Obama gets a high approval rating for his first three months in office, says Politico, wiping their raging butt-hurt with extra-quilted Charmin®.

69 percent of America approve of Obama, + the highest ‘right track’ numbers in years.

An ABC News poll released this morning shows that a vast majority -- 69 percent -- of Americans approve of President Obama and 72 percent view him favorably, "the best job approval rating at this point in 20 years, [and] the broadest personal popularity since Ronald Reagan."

Fifty percent now say the United States is headed in the right direction, up 31 points since the end of the Bush administration.
"Obama leads the Republicans in Congress in trust to handle the economy by a garish 61-24 percent."

    Cheney in 2012!

Of course, everyone’s first choice for president in 2012 is Dick Cheney. But Liz Cheney’s boffo performance yesterday in the lefties’ den, MSNBC, defending sensible interrogation policies in the war on terror, surely puts her in contention for the runner-up position.

Torture was face-saving device for misadministration

Mounting evidence that Bush/Cheney ordered torture NOT to foil potential al Qaeda attacks, but to manufacture an excuse to invade Iraq: "the impetus here was largely political."

RON SUSKIND: What's fascinating here, is that if you run the timelines side by side, you see for the first time...that the key thing being sent down by the policymakers, by the White House, is find a link between Saddam and al Qaeda, so that we can essentially link Saddam to the 9/11 attacks, and then march into Iraq with the anger of 9/11 behind us. That was the goal, and was being passed down as the directive.

What's fascinating, is in the Senate [Armed Services] report, is finally, clear confirmation that that specific thing was driving many of the activities, and, mind you, the frustration inside of the White House...as frustration built inside of the White House that there was no link that was established, because the CIA told the White House from the very start that there is no Saddam to al Qaeda link - we checked it out, we did it every which way, sorry - the White House simply wouldn't take no for an answer, and it went with another method: torture was the method. "Get me a confession, I don't care how you do it."

The UK Guardian has more, here.
