White House spokesman Robert Gibbs reacts to yet another completely stupid pout-rage from repukes, who seem to forget they ironically elected Trent Lott to ‘minority whip’ even after he waxed poetic about the good ol’ days of slavery --
Q: Did you want to react to Republican calls for [Harry Reid] to step down or asserting that there's a double-standard here vis-a-vis the Trent Lott situation?Well, almost. dKos adds, as Joan Walsh more succinctly put it:
MR. GIBBS: Oh for the love of criminey. Fine. I don't understand exactly how one draws the analogy to a former majority leader expressing his support for going back in time and running on a segregation ticket to how that's analogous to what Senator Reid was saying. I mean, I understand what people have to do to get themselves on TV. I would suggest they spend about 20 seconds reading a little history and figuring out that to draw that analogy strains any intellectual enterprise or any real reality, in all sense of the word. And that goes double for you assholes in the press.
One guy is talking, perhaps inelegantly, about why he's wholeheartedly supporting our first black president; the other is wishing the country had elected a racist. That's exactly the same thing!
