"Actually, I don't HAVE a personal savior, you deity-worshipping loser." - - Topfive.com's Number 1 Thing You Should Never, Ever Say to Your Boss

"...maybe just some crazed cabbies of Middle Eastern origin who, upon having received a common, secret signal plow their filthy yellow jihad-mobiles into unsuspecting pedestrians." - from Michael Kramer's column "The Word in Washington: Cover Your Behind."

"There is a red alert going on now, but it's only in Karl Rove's office. (There is a severe risk of political damage to the Bush administration.) That's why the Bushies are trying to terrify us. They desperately want to change the subject from the stunning lapses of their ostensibly expert foreign policy team — and they cynically want to make it sound as if nothing they do or don't do really matters in the end." - from Maureen Dowd

After the Democrats.com Expose', Rove, Rumsfeld & Rice Scrub the Pentagon Planning Page - and a Whole Government Web Site!

"On 5-20-02, Democrats.com exposed Condi Rice's Big Lie that no one ever expected the Pentagon to be hit by a civilian airliner. According to the official government Web site of the Military District of Washington (www.mdw.army.mil), the Pentagon ITSELF planned in detail how it would respond to just such a scenario from October 24-26 2000. And this was no low-level exercise, since it took place in the Office of the Secretaries of Defense conference room! Folks, we must have found something REALLY EXPLOSIVE - because not only did Rove & Rumsfeld & Rice scrub this article, they scrubbed the whole Military District of Washington Web site! Luckily, we kept a copy of the article (see link above). Call your Representatives (202-224-3121) and the media and demand the truth about the Pentagon's civilian airline crash exercise in October 2000!" - - (thanks to democrats.com)

Dire New Terror Warnings Are Part of a Two-Pronged Political Strategy to Cover Bush's Butt

Under fire for its bungling of 911 warnings, the Toxic Trifectan administration has adopted a new strategy. According to AP writer John Lumpkin, a senior White House administration official admitted that the blunt new warnings are designed to give Americans better notice - and to protect the Diapered Dodo against second guessing in the event of another attack. In addition, a top White House aide said last week's criticism has prompted a two-pronged political response: George of the Bungle accuses Democrats of playing politics with the issue, while his advisers remind voters that America is still a certain target. Hey Ari! Would you care to remind us again about which party is politicizing this national tragedy for the November elections? - - (thanks to democrats.com)

As U.S. officials continued to issue warnings yesterday about the possibility of attacks by suicide bombers and terrorists, the White House quietly acknowledged that the threats are not urgent and that they are partly motivated by political objectives.

White House officials told reporters that the warnings issued yesterday and Sunday do not reflect a dramatic increase in threatening information but rather a desire to fend off criticism from the Democrats.

"We are in the hands of liars, morons or both."

In the circus of insolent hypocrites which is the Bush Administration, the best lines are reserved for the ringmaster. On that same day the creepy Dick Cheney warned Democrats not to "seek political advantage by making incendiary suggestions...that the White House had advance information that would have prevented the tragic attacks of 9-11. Such commentary," Cheney emphasized, "is thoroughly irresponsible and totally unworthy of national leaders in a time of war."

First: what war? And when it comes to "political advantage," it's the Bushies, not the Democrats, who have taken advantage of 9-11 to further a partisan political agenda. They used the dead of New York, Pennsylvania and Washington to push such Republican platform planks as "fast track" signing authority on free trade agreements, Internet censorship, tax cuts for the super rich and drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. To be sure, there's a war going on: a PR war. And now that Democrats are finally scoring a few points of their own, the Bushies who have been slamdunking for months are screaming foul. - - by Ted Rall - read more at link above!!

"these dire warnings can safely (and accurately) be trotted out whenever a day's uncomfortable news stories warrant some White House damage control"

First, we got the steady trickle -- well, maybe a stream and, on a good day, a torrent -- of revelations that seemingly every piece of the federal security apparatus (up to and apparently including President Clueless), was given some inkling that Al-Qaeda wanted to hijack airplanes and crash them into someplace with a lot of Americans in it. (Like, say, a building. In America.)

Then -- well, golly, WHAT A COINCIDENCE -- we've been flooded with a succession of dire warnings, carefully spread over each news cycle, that a new and incredibly horrifying terrorist attack is "certain," "imminent," "unavoidable," or whatever the White House Word of the Day might be, as faithfully relayed by the CJWT's. (Court Jesters with Teleprompters.) - - (read more at link above)

Embarrased, pathetic, desperate admin uses fear campaign to keep us in line

[S]keptics must be allowed to ask the obvious out loud: Don't these hair-raising warnings come at a convenient time for the White House, as it tries both to fend off criticism for its mishandling of terrorist intelligence and to squash an expansive inquiry on Capitol Hill?

Last Night on Crossfire:

Rep. Mike 'partisan whore' Rogers (R-Mich): What we're going to do now is, and I want to know, James, what agents would you take off the street from fighting terrorism in the United States today to come back to Washington, D.C. to go through a stack of papers so you can feel better? I don't think that's the right approach for America. We have a common enemy now. Let's go get him.

James Carville: I think I'll take the two hundred they had investigating President Clinton's sex life.
