"OK - Dems, press corps, this is how you do it..."
We had a terrific thunderstorm last night. I was hoping it would force the mama cat to bring the kittens up to the igloo, but nooooooooo. Ungrateful creature.
The dog peed on the bedroom carpet this morning, so I was awakened to more screams of rage from the BF. It's weird when you almost look forward to going to work, just to get some peace and quiet.
I've been banned from using the internet at the office, so I have to cheat and try to get some stuff in during lunch or break - what a way to run a webpage.
June 6, 1944: the D-Day invasion of Europe took place during World War II as Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. I love movies about WWII - "Midway", "The Battle of the Bulge", "The Longest Day", "The Guns of Navarone", "The Winds of War", "Stalag 17" (did I get the number right?!), "The Great Escape"...no, that doesn't make me a nazi. My grandfather was captured by the Germans in WWI and held in a POW camp, my dad's town was shelled by them in WWII. It was overrun with them at one point, because of it's location - right on the Arno River - and because the river and the ford could be guarded/defended from the castle on the mountain above the town. There are still German pillboxes all through the area, but they're slowly being covered by vegetation and shifting earth. Sad, really.

Speaking of bombing...
Senators are questioning Bunnypants' Cuba "policy" finally. They're accusing the misadministration of giving conflicting statements, and flat-out lying about Cuba trying to develop biological weapons. Undersecretary of State John Bolton was asked to explain all this before a Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee Wednesday but Powell sent Assistant Secretary of State Carl Ford. Later today he'll be sending the mailroom guy's mother.
"We have never suggested we had proof positive they had a program," Ford told senators. "We feel very confident saying they are working on an effort that would give them limited capability." Oh, OK then. But that certainly didn't satisfy those librul commie traitors, oh no:
"The issue of biological weapons is a serious matter and we in the Congress should refrain from the temptation to play politics with it. So, too, should the Bush administration," said Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to wash these grease stains off my tutu."
Quote of the Morning
"I don't believe any longer that it's a matter of connecting the dots. I think they had a veritable blueprint and we want to know why they didn't act on it." - Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa.
Moments in Churchilliana
Bunnypants asked India to take "de-escalatory steps," including de-emphasizing "instruments of war" such as troops massed along the frontier with Pakistan.
WH spokes-tool and liar Ari Fleischer said the Moron of Midland told the leaders, "War is not in your interest, and war is not in the interest of your neighbors. ... While it remains tense, it remains delicate, war is not inevitable."
