Happy New Year, everyone!

The pic above is sunset at Mallory Square in Key West, where we spent four days drinking, eating, smoking cigars, and drinking, after digging out of 12 inches of wet snow on Christmas day.

Fun Fact: the Hinkley buzzards were late arriving in Key West this winter, which freaked the locals out for some reason. I didn't want to ask.
Fun Fact II: they refer to their dogs' assholes as 'Rush Limbaughs'. I didn't have to ask.

Best eats: Meson de Pepe, terrific Cuban food and homemade sangria.
Worst eating experience: conch ceviche. Yack - tropical pickled tongue.

Best new drink: espresso martinis
Worst new drink: ha ha ha ha ha!

Favorite tourist activity: the glass-bottom boat tour. The 4 PM cruise had complimentary cheese and champagne at sunset.
Crappiest: bike-riding against the wind to Stock Island, only to find out the Botanical Gardens were closed.

Favorite sights: Hemingway's cats, the parrots of the Secret Garden, the feral chickens of Whitehead Street.
Most bizarre: the windows of Duval Street's erotica shops.

Cool: a manatee swam right past us (as did a hawksbill turtle and a nurse shark), stuck my finger into a horseshoe crab's mouth.
Lame: there were way too many children, none of which were used as shark or buzzard bait.

Reason to be back: Egon, the kitten, spent all day yesterday and all last night wrapped around my neck like a fuzzy remora.

Oh my!
