Stuff and nonsense

  • BAGHDAD, Iraq - Another "Mission Accomplished!" moment attack on US troops: Iraqis fired rocket-propelled grenades and small arms at a US patrol near an air base west of Baghdad today. Soldiers returned fire, but there were no reports of casualties on either side (link). This time.

  • GAZA (Reuters) - Roadmap to Hell: the militant Islamic group Hamas says it is breaking off talks with Palestinian PM Mahmoud Abbas on ending its attacks on Israelis. "The dialogue has ended," Abdel-Aziz al-Rantissi, a Hamas leader, said. "Abu Mazen has stopped the dialogue when he committed himself to some issues not accepted by Hamas and will never be accepted by the Palestinian people."

  • WASHINGTON - After playing yoyo with the national terra threat level three times in the past four months, Tom Ridge said Thursday that he is concerned about the 'sustainability and credibility' of the system. Ridge said he wants a new plan where alerts can be targeted for specific industries, states or cities rather than the entire country. He'll be test-running a new system, where certain industries will be alerted to start stocking up on duct tape and extra toilet paper. - link.

  • "I'm also not very analytical. You know I don't spend a lot of time thinking about myself, about why I do things." - pReznit Privilege, aboard Air Force One, 6/4/03. Duh.

  • Reminder: "Bush Lied, Thousands Died."
